Demonstration against funding cuts in the independent scene

The Theater an der Ruhr is joining the demands of the Kulturrat NRW, which is calling for transparency in the state of NRW's decisions to cut funding, particularly for independent theatre projects. Projects in the fields of dance, theatre and film are currently particularly affected by cuts. In addition, the important initiative ‘Cheers for Fears’ is no longer to be funded. The Theater an der Ruhr shows solidarity with all affected colleagues and is fundamentally opposed to cuts in the cultural budget of the state of NRW. Against the backdrop of a threateningly crumbling support for democracy, cuts in the state's comparatively low cultural budget seem even less comprehensible. We would like to draw your attention to the demonstration against the funding cuts in the independent theatre scene. This will take place on Thursday 16 January from 12.30 pm on the lawn in front of the Düsseldorf state parliament.
