Katharina Stoll

born 1994 in Cologne, grew up in Berlin, works as a freelance director and author for theatre.

She studied German literature and philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Boğaziçi University in Istanbul. Her first directorial works, such as The Balcony by Jean Genet and Fräulein Else by Arthur Schnitzler, were already produced during her studies. Later she worked as an assistant director at the Schaubühne in Berlin and the Burgtheater in Vienna. She has worked with directors such as Katie Mitchell, Thomas Ostermeier and Anne-Cécile Vandalem. In 2021 she founded the feminist theatre collective Glossy Pain together with the actress and director Isabelle Redfern and the dramaturg Angelika Schmidt. In June '21, the collective produced its first work: BANG!, a trilingual play development at Theaterdiscounter Berlin (TD), which was invited as a guest performance at PATHOS Munich. In the same year, she staged "Missions of Beauty" by Sibylle Berg in cooperation with physical theatre students at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. In June '22, her production of Anne Lepper's "Seymour" came out at the TD and in November '22, together with Isabelle Redfern, she staged Golda Barton's "Sistas!" at the Volksbühne in Berlin. "Woyzeck" by Georg Büchner is her first production at the Theater an der Ruhr.
