Marie Schulte-Werning

comes from Münster, studied acting at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre and has been a permanent member of the ensemble since 2023.

Marie Schulte-Werning was born in 1996 and grew up in Münster. Before going to the theatre, she first went to Leipzig University to study communication and media studies; at the same time, she was active in the youth club "Sorry, eh!" at Schauspiel Leipzig. In 2018, she went to study acting at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, where she worked with Christiane von Poelnitz, Moritz Grove, André Szymanski and Charly Hübner, among others. In her third year of study, she was accepted into the German National Academic Foundation's scholarship programme.
After graduating, Marie Schulte-Werning worked as a freelancer in Hamburg for two years, e.g. as Sophie Scholl in "Die weiße Rose" at the Hamburg Kammerspiele (director: Sewan Latchinian) or as Paige in "Die Antwort auf Alles" at the St. Pauli Theatre (director: Julia Hölscher).
The 2022/23 season marks her first permanent engagement at the Theater an der Ruhr.

"I'm really looking forward to going full throttle in this special place, learning, growing, helping to drive the theatre forward and simply being able to play!"
