Angelika Schmidt
is a freelance dramaturge, author, translator and co-founder of the multilingual theatre collective Glossy Pain.
After studying French and Italian film, media, language and literature studies in Fribourg, Strasbourg, Bologna, Lyon, Weimar and Utrecht as part of the Franco-German University, she worked for the EU Commission/Creative Europe, the Federal Foreign Office, the Stückemarkt as part of the Berlin Theatre Meeting, the Kunstfest Weimar and as a dramaturg and then freelance dramaturge at the Berliner Schaubühne. In 2023, she was a fellow of the Goldschmidt programme for young literary translators. In her theatre work, dramaturgical and translation processes flow together and she is interested in the potential of collectivity and multilingualism on stage.
Since 2021, productions by the collective Glossy Pain, which she co-founded and which works in changing constellations with international artists on feminist, anti-capitalist and anti-racist issues, have premiered at TD Berlin, the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and the Theater an der Ruhr, among others.
