ier.ruhr

Mülheim an der Ruhr is home to three very different, lively theatre institutions: The Mülheimer Theatertage, the ensemble theatre Theater an der Ruhr and the co-production house Ringlokschuppen Ruhr.
Together, they have formed the theatre alliance vier.ruhr since September 2019.

In terms of content, vier.ruhr stands for the exchange between the three institutions and their unifying fourth dimension, with the creative power of which they act and work artistically in the city of Mülheim, the Ruhr region and beyond. Digital space in particular is actively brought into play, as it has become an integral part of theatre and has increasingly demonstrated its power, necessity and potential in recent years.

The protagonists and associated artists of vier.ruhr understand art and theatre as a socially influential form of communication. With innovative formats, projects and collaborations, they have set out together to find strategies for cooperation in order to strengthen the exchange between each other and between theatre, city and society. The organic encounters at vier.zentrale in the centre of Mülheim get people talking and give rise to new ideas: The cityscape and our society are undergoing dynamic change and vier.ruhr is actively helping to shape it.
