What connects art and utopia is the resistance to the supposedly immovable, the trust in the not-yet-thought. Both elude the logic of a lack of alternatives. Both create spaces in which something different becomes visible - not as a ready-made solution, but as an impulse for change. In this sense, the Theater an der Ruhr sees itself not only as a place of presentation, but also as a place of experience: as an experimental set-up for the future.
