Clowns unter Tage
A musical-comical journey under the earth by Roberto Ciulli and Matthias Flake
On 07 June 2018, Theater an der Ruhr premiered again with a co-production of the Ruhrfestspiele in Recklinghausen.
The play tells the story of the Ruhr area from the perspective of German, Polish, Italian and Turkish workers, thrown together for coal mining in the mines, welded together by the common experience of deprivation and danger. The cultural forms that emerged from this, the choirs, orchestras, the music, they are the material that Ciulli wants to make tangible to the senses as a modern myth all of its own.
