Der Besuch der alten Dame
Friedrich Dürrenmatt
"The world made me a whore, now I'll make it a brothel."
The shrill tragicomedy "Der Besuch der Alten Dame" brought playwright Friedrich Dürrenmatt his international breakthrough in 1956 and has since become a classic of world literature that is currently experiencing a renaissance, and not without good reason. - An abysmal revenge story full of black humor about egoism and the seductive power of money.
Director Albrecht Hirche has staged productions at major theaters such as Theater Basel, Volksbühne Berlin, Schauspiel Köln, Centraltheater Leipzig and in the independent scene. In recent years he has worked continuously at the Theater an der Ruhr: among others, "The Metamorphosis" after Kafka or "The Confusions of Törless".
