Man muss sich an Morgen erinnern – 40 Jahre Theater an der Ruhr

Exhibition run: April 23 to July 24

The project Man muss sich an morgen erinnern - 40 Jahre Theater an der Ruhr will bring the special history of Theater an der Ruhr to life in its artistic and socio-political complexity as a multimedia spatial installation in the Düsseldorf Theater Museum. The fortieth anniversary provides the starting point for the creation of an independent work of art that also reflects the history of the theater as a starting point for change. By selecting the insights shown from the rich archive, the planned presentation does not want to follow a chronology, but to use an artistic format to make it possible to sensually experience the theater as a place of being and non-being. In this experimental process, the exhibition wants to be understood as a search for traces in order to make the specific pattern of this theater visible and to give the visitors the possibility of a creative re-experience. The memory of images as a revival of the idea that theater allows us a fundamental and universal view of people and humanity. The exhibition was conceived and realized by Elisabeth Strauß, the long-time costume and stage designer of the Theater an der Ruhr.

Supported by Kunststiftung NRW, Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of NRW, NRW KULTURsekretariat, Förderverein des Theater an der Ruhr.
