Die Sprachen der Tiere

Performance with Steffen Reuber

Since time immemorial, humans have been considered superior to animals primarily because they have the ability to speak. The political consequence of this can be seen in the complete lack of rights of animals. However, it is a false conclusion that animals are speechless. Depending on the species, they have a variety of ways of communicating directly with each other, i.e. through language. Observers have long been aware of the developed intelligence of individual species, such as marine mammals and birds, but we ignore their right to habitats.
