AUDIO IM UMSCHLAG #10

In the 10th edition of AUDIO im UMSCHLAG Peter Eisold welcomes two outstanding interpreters of contemporary music: Evelin Degen, artistic head of the renowned E-MEX ensemble, professor for flute and specialist for new and newest music and Matthias Geuting, organist on the royal church organ - in the VolXbühne circumstantially transposed down to the common electric organ, also focused on contemporary and experimental works for this instrument. With the new, interdisciplinary ensemble PART, the three are working to expand the concept of music beyond traditional genre boundaries ... #10 will be an oscillating odyssey with new works for double bass flute, performative instant composing, a LockDown composition for flute, percussion, and video feed ("Chamber Kinetics 2020") AND, possibly, an excursion into historical music practice.

Instrumentation: Ensemble PART with Evelin Degen (flutes), Matthias Geuting (keys), Peter Eisold (percussion/electronics/video)

AUDIO IM UMSCHLAG #11

Chamber concert for ensemble, electronics & video

The music of the formation PERSONAL UND PASTICHE moves stylistically at the intersections of contemporary chamber music, improvisation, electronica and media or sound art. The project is based on a composition grant from 2021, where Peter Eisold took the opportunity to generate material for exactly this extraordinary line-up.

The musical background of the musicians in this formation is extraordinarily diverse and ranges from New Music, Experimental Noise, Modern Classical Music to Improvised Music and Jazz.
The conceptual core of PERSONAL & PASTICHE is the incorporation of composed video sequences, which determine the basic structures of some compositions. These are detailed recordings of solo instrumental passages, motifs or video loops of the individual instrumentalists, which are projected as if in a burning glass (in a loop) and thus allow the individual soloists to enter into a dialogue with themselves. They thus create a "PASTICHE" (an "overpainting" / "imitation" / "correction" "addition" / "extension" in painting). As a counterpoint in the concert program, clarinetist Kyusang Jeong presents a rarely performed work by Steve Reich: "New York Counterpoint" (1985) for clarinet and tape.

Instrumentation: PERSONAL AND PASTICHE with Emily Wittbrodt (cello), Kyusang Jeong (clarinets), Stefan [Este] Kirchhoff (electric guitar), Peter Eisold (percussion, electronics, video, composition)
