All the Beauty and the Bloodshed

Filmscreening

After an operation, the famous photographer and activist Nan Goldin was prescribed Oxycontin in 2014. Like countless other Americans, she became dependent on the painkiller, but was able to overcome her addiction. She then takes up the fight against the Sackler family of pharmaceutical entrepreneurs, who not only sell Oxycontin and are heavily involved in the opioid crisis in the USA, but also appear worldwide as patrons of the arts. With "All the Beauty and the Bloodshed", Oscar-winning filmmaker Laura Poitras presents an impressive portrait of Nan Goldin, in which artistic creation, the personal and the political are interwoven.

Following the film, we invite you to a discussion with Gerhard Gründer at 5 p.m., who, following on from the film's theme, asks the theme of the film: "How do we want to live? - Time for a new consciousness".
