Anna is on the run, in two ways. She is politically persecuted in her country of origin – and stalked by her violent husband in her current place of residence. "If he finds me," she says, "he'll kill me. " Anna is one of six protagonists who have found refuge in a women's shelter in Felicia Zeller's play. On the basis of interviews, the playwright not only shows female experiences of violence across all age groups, social classes and milieus in a highly complex way. But just as precisely, she uses her own syntax to reveal verbal power strategies, experiences of powerlessness, socialization patterns, and immunization strategies of the authorities.
