AUTO_NOMOS Der einbeinige Läufer

Text: Katharina Schmitt

Adaption für VR: OBLIQUE SENSATIONS(Christoph Wirth & Markus Wagner)

What are the connections between progress and catastrophe, speed rush and longing for death? Based on Katharina Schmitt's surreal piece "Der Einbeinige Läufer", which deals with these questions using the example of a car race and a fatal accident, OBLIQUE SENSATIONS develops an interactive installation in virtual space.
Schmitt's text repeatedly hallucinates the same scene: the car jumping out of the bend and the driver's accident in the burning machine. A surreal trip accelerated by musicality and speech rhythm begins, blurring imagination and reality. In the Mülheim version, the final monologue of the play is experienced as an immersive VR scene sequence. The audience can intervene in the action in real time using hand movements. In an interactive choreography set to driving electro sounds, it finally becomes possible to leave your own (virtual) body.
