Der Tod ist ein einsames Geschäft
Dark readings with Maria Neumann
"Death is a Lonely Business" is one of the titles of the four selected texts that Maria Neumann reads aloud late at night. Ray Bradbury depicts a reality in which the readers lose themselves in the eeriness of the world, which collapses piece by piece. Edgar Allen Poe does the same with his plays "The Tell-Tale Heart" (1st reading) and "The Raven" (2nd reading) and Peter Handke's "Wishful Unhappiness" (3rd reading) confronts us with the mystery of his own mother's death. All the authors follow dark secrets, but the results of their investigations are so different that they are both unexpected and surprising. And the performative readings with Maria Neumann are just as surprising.
First reading: "Das verräterische Herz" Second reading: "Der Rabe" Third reading: "Wunschloses Unglück" Fourth reading: "Der Tod ist ein einsames Geschäft" The locations of the readings remain a secret.
