Hikikomori

HIKIKOMORI tells the story of a young woman who has been in voluntary isolation for five years. Her world is governed by different laws. Her identity increasingly dissolves, her imagination becomes her enemy, but it doesn't bother her: the strategies of repression are too deep-seated. If only there wasn't this omnipresent outside world. The neighbor who keeps bringing over soup. The mother who tries to save her, desperately. And the gang of policemen who stand outside the door and simply won't leave her alone. Until the situation escalates.

In HIKIKOMORI, director Mats Süthoff and actress Paulina Alpen, who are both involved in the production of "Oedipus", and their team explore a mysterious psychosocial phenomenon on the borderline between social pressure, interpersonal expectations and psychological depths.
