We cordially invite families and their children to the Open Foyer of the Theater an der Ruhr on five different dates. Open Foyer means that we open up our common areas for families and redesign them especially for this purpose.

The result is an exciting and creative program in which children can try out their skills in a playful way.

Our theater café is open for adults at the same time and in the same place.

Open foyer, open schedule: you come and go as you please during the specified period. 

Admission is free.

Black light theater

As if by magic, black light makes everything that is dark disappear and makes white and neon-colored costumes appear. The children can become invisible and make objects fly.

Sun, 24.11. from 14:00-16:00

1001 nights

At 16:00, our new play “1001 Nights” celebrates its premiere.

Even before the performance, we will transform the Open Foyer into a colorful fairytale landscape from 1001 Nights.

Please note: If you would like to stay for the performance of “1001 Nights” at 16:00, you will need a ticket. Tickets are available online or by email to tickets [​at​] theateranderruhr.de

The play is recommended for ages 8 and up.

Your artistic painting

We open the 22nd KulTürchen of the Mülheim Advent calendar and create winter paintings with the children.

At the end, we will project the finished paintings onto the large screen in the foyer in a digital exhibition.

The stone soup

The animals have hidden the ingredients for their stone soup in the foyer. Can we find the ingredients together and bring the story back together?

Shadow theater

We use a spotlight to create our shadows on a white curtain: what stories can we invent with the shadow images and what do the shadows of props look like, for example?
