After Woke

with Jens Balzer im Makroscope

Organised by the Association for the Promotion of the Theater an der Ruhr

With the terrorist attack on 7 October 2023, Hamas committed the most serious attack against Jewish life since the Shoah. Since the attack, anti-Semitic incidents have also become more frequent in Germany. The Ringlokschuppen, the Theater an der Ruhr, the Makroscope and the KGI theatre collective, all very different places and groups in the Mülheim cultural scene, are addressing this issue and inviting you to lectures and discussions.

We invite the people of Mülheim to enter into dialogue with us and the respective guests.

Never again is now - On the present of anti-Semitism
Theater an der Ruhr

Anti-Semitism not only has an alarmingly long history, it also manifests itself in ever new forms. We would like to explore current phenomena of anti-Semitism with our discussion partners. To do so, we will leave the Theater am Raffelbergpark and head to the city center: we will alternate between the vier.zentrale, the joint space of the Theaterallianz vier.ruhr, and the nearby Makroscope, Mülheim's socio-cultural art house.

“After Woke”
with Jens Balzer

In his essay, the journalist examines the mostly empathy-free reaction of many “woke” leftists to the Hamas massacre on October 7. Where does the “moral bankruptcy” come from?
