UN/UNCERTAIN ENCOUNTERS
The Theatre of Extended Realities at GEHEIMNIS 2
Immersive art installations
The possibilities of virtual reality and artificial intelligence challenge and even shift our usual boundaries of perception and representation. Artistic works that make use of these possibilities, investigate and sound them out, raise the question of what is real and genuine in a very special way.
The works in the exhibition UN/GEWISSE BEGEGNUNGEN place a special focus on this coordinate system. They all revolve around forms and situations of encounter: with places of longing and cultural projections, with a counterpart, with oneself and with one's own body. From their own perspective, they allow us to surmise what might be hidden behind the surface of appearances, what takes place in secret and which desires and fantasies secretly shape our experience of the respective events, impressions and phenomena, perhaps even our idea of something like reality.
