Café Wake Cup

The dancer and choreographer Paulina Abufhele, who lives in Mülheim, reads a song-poem by the Chilean musician, visual artist and folk art collector Violeta Parra (in Spanish and German).
Under the pseudonym Numaqam, the musician Gürsoy Tanç (Dj, electric guitar) together with the jazz saxophonist and duduk player André Meisner bring a sound to life that has the sound cosms of Anatolia and the Balkans as its theme. Enriched with live improvisations, there is no lack of influences from reggae, ragga, dub and ska.

The culture of drinking and offering tea is an inseparable part of the lifestyle of Arab countries. It shows respect and cordiality to a guest. The ritual of drinking tea or coffee together serves as a symbol to take away the fear of the "foreigner", to strengthen tolerance and community between cultures and generations. We want to cultivate and practice this ritual together, accompanied by artists from the region.
