Showdown – eine Übung des Erbstreits
subbotnik
Every year, around 120 billion euros are inherited in Germany and subject to taxation. The estimated number of unreported cases is probably around 250 billion! In their new project Showdown, subbotnik explores individual and collective experiences of inheritance and transforms them into a playful exercise in conflict resolution. Between show, theatre and negotiation room, the performers, as administrators of the inheritance, take on not only property, but also debts, traumas, privileges and unresolved family conflicts. In newly formed communities of heirs, the inheritance is divided up and rethought: who gets what? Who is left out? And what does inheritance mean in a society where property is always political? A citizens' choir – the theatre choir of Petrikirche Mülheim an der Ruhr and guests – condenses the voices of the audience – in a polyphonic dispute, a view opens up to the utopia of a new way of dealing with what is passed on!
