Our series Aufbruch im Iran (New beginnings in Iran) continues from February 6 to 8 at the Theater an der Ruhr: Amidst new protests in Iran, the weekend focuses on exile, identity, and artistic freedom. The centerpiece is Mohammad Rasoulof's production Destination: Origin, accompanied by film screenings, discussions, and an Iranian café.

The French playwright passed away on 16 January in Paris.
The results of the nachtkritik theater meeting have been published, and “Das eingebildete Tier” has been voted into the top 10 by the nachtkritik audience. We are delighted and thank you for your votes!
Our foyer is open for playing, crafting, and trying things out — accompanied by theater educators. For adults, our theater café is open during this time.

Sixteen projects were selected from a total of 200. The Theater an der Ruhr is participating with “Ruhrorter” and, together with Makroscope, “Zuhören” (Listening) is taking part in the European traveling biennial.
From June 21 to October 4, 2026, MANIFESTA 16 Ruhr will take place in twelve vacant post-war churches in the Ruhr region.
