In his feature film "Ecocide" (2020), shot for ARD, Andres Veiel puts the Federal Republic of Germany on trial in the year 2034. Accused by states of the global South, which are suffering massively from the consequences of climate change, the country and its former chancellor, Angela Merkel, now eighty years old, must answer to the International Court of Justice sitting in Berlin. Andres Veiel is one of the most distinguished German filmmakers, particularly known for his documentaries "Black Box BRD," "Die Spielwütigen" and "Beuys," as well as his feature films "Wer wenn nicht wir" and "Ökozid." Veiel stands for politically engaged art and has been awarded countless prizes for it.
