Staff:in Communication and Audience Development (f/m/d)

The Theater an der Ruhr, the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr and the Mülheimer Theatertage together form the theatre alliance vier.ruhr. As an ensemble theatre, co-production house and festival for contemporary German drama, we understand art and theatre as socially intervening forms of communication. With innovative projects and cooperations, we have set out to find new strategies of cooperation in order to strengthen the exchange among ourselves and between theatre, city and society.

We jointly run vier.zentrale, a third location in Mülheim's city centre that facilitates diverse art, education and encounter formats. vier.ruhr allies with Silent University Ruhr, a platform for refugee academics, the municipal education network MH/0/25 and about ten civically engaged initiatives in the joint use of the project space.

We are looking for a part-time person (20-25 hours per week) to support the team in the area of communication and audience development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Addressing groups of visitors personally
  • Networking with actors and multipliers in Mülheim an der Ruhr and the surrounding area
  • Address research and database maintenance
  • Development and implementation of creative content and visuals for our digital channels
  • Maintenance of our social media channels and our website
  • Creation and dispatch of newsletters and web-compatible graphics/print media

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to approach people proactively
  • Media skills (social media / web applications / Microsoft Office)
  • Creative flair for image, video and text design
  • Ability to work independently and reliably
  • Curiosity and affinity for theatre, culture and contemporary issues
  • Good knowledge of German and at least one foreign language

We offer

  • a part-time position (20-25 hours per week)
  • the possibility of working as a student trainee
  • an interesting job in an artistic/social work context
  • the opportunity to contribute to the content of the project
  • opportunities to experience a wide variety of theatre and art formats

Interns (m/f/d)

Theater an der Ruhr was founded in 1980 as an alternative model, an ensemble theater of a new type. The idea of the ensemble, which includes all members of the theater, and the idea of traveling (the theater has now been to more than 50 countries and has brought artists from these countries to Europe and Mülheim) make the Theater an der Ruhr a special place for contemporary theater and contemporary art, which avoids fashionable compromises and creates open, multilingual discourse and international encounters. The Theater an der Ruhr is located in a former brine bath in Raffelbergpark on the outskirts of Mülheim an der Ruhr. It still works with flat hierarchies. The idea of the collective and independent work are important foundations of the cooperation.

For the 2022/2023 season, we are looking for committed interns who would like to gain insight into the work processes and activities of a theater. Under the guidance of the assistant directors, you can actively participate in the artistic development processes as well as in the team and accompany the rehearsal process until the premiere. Your core tasks will include the preparation and follow-up of rehearsals as well as supporting the director/dramaturge during rehearsals.

The internship is limited in time and not bound to a production. The period of time can be arranged individually. Theatrical experience is desirable.

Are you interested? Then please send your complete application (cover letter, CV) summarized in a PDF document by e-mail to adem.koestereli [at] theater-an-der-ruhr.de.

Theater an der Ruhr welcomes applications from persons regardless of their gender, ethnic, cultural or social origin, age, religion, world view, disability or sexual identity.
