Props Manager (m/f/d)
The Theater an der Ruhr was founded in 1980 as an alternative model, an ensemble theatre of a new type. The idea of the ensemble, which includes all members of the theatre, and the idea of travelling (the theatre has now been to more than 50 countries and has brought artists from these countries to Europe and Mülheim) make the Theater an der Ruhr a special place for contemporary theatre and contemporary art, which avoids fashionable compromises and creates open, multilingual discourses and international encounters. The Theater an der Ruhr is located in a former saline bath in Raffelbergpark on the outskirts of Mülheim an der Ruhr. It still works with flat hierarchies. The idea of the collective and independent work are important foundations of the collaboration.

We are looking for a props master with immediate effect. Your area of responsibility includes:

  • Planning and procuring props of all kinds for our productions while adhering to the given budgets.
  • Development, production, care and maintenance of props of various materials
  • Independently supervising, setting up and running rehearsals and performances
  • Transport, storage and maintenance of props
  • If necessary, support in the construction of stage sets
  • Close cooperation with the stage direction and set design team

Requirements:

  • Completed vocational training in a technical trade, additional training as a "certified prop master" or relevant professional experience in the props department of a theatre company would be an advantage.
  • Extensive knowledge and affinity in handling and processing materials and surfaces
  • Independent, solution- and team-oriented way of working
  • Willingness to work normal theatre hours (including weekends and holidays)
  • Participation in guest performance tours at home and abroad
  • Driving licence min. class B

We offer a full-time position with a varied range of tasks, a very collegial and artistically exciting working environment, a workplace in the middle of the beautiful Raffelbergpark in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

The Theater an der Ruhr welcomes applications from persons regardless of their gender, ethnic, cultural or social origin, age, religion, world view, disability or sexual identity.

Have we aroused your interest? Then please send your complete application (cover letter, CV, references) only by email, summarised in one PDF document to adem.koestereli [at] theater-an-der-ruhr.de.

Under the guidance of the assistant directors, you can actively participate in the artistic development processes as well as in the team and accompany the rehearsal process until the premiere. Your core tasks will include the preparation and follow-up of rehearsals as well as supporting the director/dramaturge during rehearsals.

The internship is limited in time and not bound to a production. The period of time can be arranged individually. Theatrical experience is desirable.
