Jobs
The Theater an der Ruhr was founded in 1980 as an alternative model, a new type of ensemble theater. The idea of the ensemble, which includes all employees of the theater, and the idea of traveling make the Theater an der Ruhr a special place for contemporary theater and contemporary art. The Theater an der Ruhr is based in a former brine bath in the historic Raffelbergpark on the border between Mülheim an der Ruhr and Duisburg. It still works with flat hierarchies today. The idea of the collective and independent work are important foundations of the collaboration.
The Theater an der Ruhr is currently reinventing itself once again, remaining true to its founding idea of an alternative, exploratory, ever-changing theater with a flexible structure that focuses on collaborative artistic work. Since the start of the 2023/2024 season, the Theater an der Ruhr has been inviting audiences to three concentrated theatrical events, each under the heading of a theme that will shape the entire season: In doing so, the theater is taking a completely new, radical path beyond the repertoire business in Germany's theater landscape.
